The 2020 Single Block is made from a single clone identified as having unique qualities and complexity. The 2020 vintage is rich, elegant and will age gracefully over the next 5-8 years.

The Art – Rich with red currants and raspberry fruit, long and balanced.

The Science – Destemmed, cold soaked, wild yeast fermentation, 12 months in French oak.

Limited Release – 1,500 bottles.

Vineyard Region: Tasmania
Wine Analysis: Alc/Vol: 11.5%
Colour: The wine shows a dark crimson purple colour.
Aroma: The nose is generous in plum and berry fruits while still showing some spicy, cedar notes.
Palate: On the palate the wine is medium bodied with savoury dark cherry flavour. The French oak barriques used in maturing this wine provide structure and intensity while being perfectly integrated. Typical Tamar Ridge tannins are balanced by supple fruit character that builds into a long finish.
Peak Drinking: Until 2028

Recommended food pairings: This powerful yet supple pinot noir is crying out for food. Serve with beef shin risotto and wild mushrooms or a selection of washed rind cheeses with pepper lavosh.

Growing Conditions: Pinot Noir from block 26 on our Kayena vineyard located in the Tamar Valley. A single clone was chosen for this wine called the MV6 clone. This clone is known for its great balance and length.

Winemaking notes: Pinot Noir from block 25 on our Kayena vineyard located in the Tamar Valley. A single clone was chosen for this wine called the MV6 or Mother Vine 6. This clone is known for its deep colour, powerful dark fruits and
structure. The grapes were destemmed and left to cold soak for several days prior to ferment. Fermentation then took place in open fermenters with regular plunging. Once dry, the ferment was pressed off to barrel using a basket press. Malolactic fermentation and maturation took place over 12 months in French oak barriques with approx. 17% new oak used. It was bottled with an alcohol of 11.5%. Vegan-friendly.
